Welcome to The Gary Mason Rhythmical Empowerment Charitable Foundation

Everyone who was touched by Gary Mason and his infectious enthusiasm for drumming reports how their lives have been greatly enhanced by the experience. Gary discovered the therapeutic benefits of hand drumming and was sharing it with groups and communities, those with Special Needs both physical and emotional, and all ages to improve their quality of life using hand drumming as a therapeutic tool.

The Charity Provides Hand Drumming for:

  • Therapy & Healing – specialising in Adults & Children with special needs and/or disabilities
  • Relaxation & Wellbeing
  • Empowerment & Improved Self-Esteem
  • Community Building & Forming New Friendships

  • Schools ‘Fun Drum’ Days

15th December 1962 to 6th January 2011

Gary Mason, former British Heavyweight Boxing Champion, started the Rhythmical Empowerment Group as a ‘Not for Profit’ Organisation’ to introduce people to the therapeutic and enjoyable effects of hand drumming. This Charity was set up in Gary’s name to continue his work.

Rhythmical Empowerment Group

Gary Mason, former British Heavyweight boxing champion, started as a ‘not-for-profit’ group to help people in the community of all ages access the therapeutic benefits of hand drumming using traditional African drums.

This Charity was set up in Gary’s Memory, with the approval of Gary’s family, to continue the work he had started in providing workshops using hand drums and other percussion instruments.

The Trustees are committed to continuing the great work Gary Mason started by reaching out to all irrespective of age, race, colour, creed, gender or disability in encouraging a wider participation in playing hand drums for therapeutic value.

We will also help other charities by ‘adding value’ to their fundraising as Gary did during his life.
We are available for Workshops, Courses, Fun-Drum Days, Team Building, Events, Fetes and Performances.
